It’s officially the middle of summer and instead of enjoying the sunshine and warm weather, the pessimist side of me is worrying about the cold and dark gloomy winter days that are quickly approaching. Just the thought of this makes me shudder. I always find myself in full panic mode once August arrives. OMG summer is like basically over! So, to keep myself fully in the summer mindset I resort to wearing bright and vivid colors. One trend that I’m really loving right now is color blocking. How summery, right?
So fun and totally gives you that summer v.i.b.e.!
Red and Yellow…
Blue and Lilac…
Purple and Orange…
Red and Pink…
Give me all of the colors!
I wont lie, I originally was scared shitless about color blocking. My go-to colors are black, white, and MAYBE a hint of red. I’ve always played it safe in the color department (you wont find a single piece of purple in my closet) and I always felt like I could never really pull it off. Basically, I lacked confidence when it comes to wearing a lot of colors. After seeing so many other bloggers proudly rocking bright vivid colors I decided to give it a go.
I recommend starting small and working your way up. Start with pastel colors or pick a solid color dress and add a different colored shoe. Do what makes you feel comfortable; don’t go full rainbow bright and freak yourself out.
Some Basic Rules to Follow
- Stick with 2 colors
- Buy pieces that are already pre color blocked for you – cutest color block swimsuit
- Start with pastels
- Work with accessories – love these Rag and Bone sandals and this Versace handbag.
- Stick with the same saturation – neons with neons
Don’t be scared to get wild and have some fun with color!
Yellows and Reds have always been two colors that I love to wear; so why not pair the two together, right?
A little Ronald McDonald vibey? Sure…but honestely, I’m lovin’ it. (HA!)
I was a little apprehensive at first, but then I reminded myself that the lack of confidence was only in my head and I went out and owned it.
Skirt: I purchased this from Zara in Moscow but here I found a similar style HERE
Since there was a lot of bright colors going on I decided to go with a simple white kitten heel mule. I love these Balenciaga mules or these more affordable options from Dolce Vita. If you want a sandal for summer then check out these super cute white mules by RAYE.
Alright, I’m signing off and working on an exciting adventure I’m planning for Labor Day weekend. Hint: Yoga, Girlfriends, and a place in Mexico that I’ve been DYING to visit! Stay tuned!
